Re-Homing A Monkey

9/16/2013

Today I spent time talking with a person who has had monkeys for over 32 years. This friend has some degenerative health problems and must start the search for a home for their 2 older monkeys.

In our conversation I knew instantly they were aware of the most important thing in re-homing monkeys. We must always think of the monkey's needs first - before our own needs.

When we as monkey caregivers first get our monkeys, we must be aware that we may not be able to complete our desire to keep them forever. This is a very difficult place to be especially if our health is failing.

My heart goes out to all of us monkey caregivers who may find ourselves in a position like this. It made my heart full of sadness as this old time monkey person started moving forward with dignity and acceptance in what they must do for their beloved monkeys. Please join with me and send prayers their way as they go through this difficult time.

Yes, we do talk about re-homing a monkey in “The Baby Book.” www.livingwithmonkeys.com
